Nigerian Military secretly releases more than 1,000 ex-Boko Haram terrorists in custody to the Bornu state government

The Nigeria Military has secretly released more than 1,000 ex-Boko Haram terrorists who had been in military custody in Maiduguri, Borno state.

Reports gathered stated the ex-terrorists were released and handed over to the Borno state government in a secret ceremony on Wednesday.

According to sources, the ex-terrorists were handed over to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, who represented the Bornu state government at the event.

Speaking with The Punch, an Military source said, “The army handed 1,009 Boko Haram insurgents to the state government today (Wednesday). It was done in secret. We were warned not to allow journalists to the venue.”
