JUST IN: Bandits kidnap men of the Nigerian Army on major highway

Bandits have abducted two men of the Nigerian Army on Maiduguri - Damaturu highway, Goni Masari area in Bornu state.

In a report gathered by Peoples Gazette, the soldiers - Bello Abubakar and Oyediran Adedotun were kidnapped while they were in a civilian vehicle travelling to Kano at about 5:08pm on Saturday.

It was said that the driver of the vehicle had a familiarity with the bandits which was noticed by other passengers who in turn alerted an Army base in Mainok.

On sighting the Army troops, the bandits fled and took some passengers with them which included the two military men.

A wireless message sent by 29 Task Force Brigade read:

“The soldiers were on pass when the incident occurred. Liaison with Sect 2 MIB revealed that a SAR operation is being conducted while the driver of the bus in which the soldiers were traveling is suspected to be a prime suspect in the incident due to some indicators. He has been arrested by troops and is undergoing investigation,”
