I sold yams to raise money to buy APC Presidential Election form - Ex- Minister Nwajiuba

The former Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has said about 3,150 Nigerians contributed money to purchase his N100 million All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination form.

The ex-Minister who resigned on May 10 to join the Presidential Election race revealed this on Monday to Newsmen in Abuja.

"I am only presenting myself to serve, I am not sponsored by the oil industry, so the only people who can sponsor me are Nigerians. 3,150 people made contributions and we bought these forms." Mr. Nwajiuba said.

He also added that he sold yams given to him by a supporter so he could raise money to pay for the 100 Million Naira APC Presidential nomination form.

“I have members of the House of Representatives from 1992 who endorsed me, even before they contributed money.
Some have paid N1,000 each, one man from Nasarawa gave me 150 yams from his farm to sell, people are investing with hope that there may be a new Nigeria,” he said.

It should be noted that Mr. Nwajiuba bought the form while he was still a serving minister and while ASUU was still on strike.
