Lionel Messi sends letter to Barcelona, announces plan to exit the club

Argentine football star Lionel Messi has sent a letter known as bureaufax to Barcelona to announce that he is set to exit the club.

Messi and Barcelona in July 2017, signed an contract that should end in June 30, 2021 but a clause in his extended contract states that he is free to move to another club if he wants to. He had been with Barcelona since 2000.

Barcelona's President Josep Maria Bartomeu is said to be in a meeting with other club officials to discuss the situation on ground. In his words, he said

   "....He (Messi) has said many times he wants to finish his career in Barcelona."

This latest development is coming after Barcelona's humiliating defeat by Bayern Munich at the just concluded UEFA Champions League.
