14 year old girl flees home in Bayelsa, goes to meet Facebook friend for sexual gratification

A 14-year old girl (name withheld) alongside side two other boys simply named Victory and Gospel have been arrested by the Bayelsa state police command in Yenagoa.

The young girl, according to her parents reportedly went missing a month ago and it was concluded that she had been kidnapped.

The minor was said to have left her house to meet her Facebook friend and lover (Victory) in Onopa, Yenagoa and stayed with him for three days in a lodge where she later met another friend of his (Gospel) who took her to his house and was always having sex with her.

The girl in her statement said she fled her house because of the harsh treatment she was always getting from her step mother and she decided to go look for her friend and lover on Facebook who was even very shocked when he saw her.

  "I left my house to meet him and he was shocked when he saw me with my bag. He took me to a lodge where we stayed for three days and one of his friends came and we went to his house and I have been staying there for one month now. They didn't force me to have sex with them. I have been sleeping with the two of them intentionally everyday."

The police arrested the boys for unlawfully harbouring the girl without consent of her parents.

The Bayelsa state Commissioner of Police, Nkereuwen Akpan however advised parents to always monitor their underaged children especially now when everybody uses social media not minding their age.
